We scooted out of Valparaiso good and early as we planned to make a winery stop along the way in Casablanca, one of Chile's best known wine producing areas. One of our waiters introduced us to a great chardonnay from that region, produced by Casa del Bosque, so that was this mornings target, before heading into Santiago to make another connection. The Casa didn't disappoint, and even though we didn't have time for the full tour, Juan Carlos, a great young sommelier in the wine shop, managed an impromptu wine tasting for us, and of course the hook was set, and we bought a couple of bottles.........Sam is bringing one home, but ours has no chance of ever seeing Canadian soil. CdelB is also known for its fantastic restaurant, but we only had time to sample the coffee before heading out. Great visit, and within and hour of Santiago.
